We are happy to announce the latest version of the SFRAS, v9.2.2 software. This version has numerous enhancements including preferences to load model outputs, ability to change the default fuel treatment start year, and the ability to save custom scores in the Level of Concern dialog. A major enhancement is the Reports tool which now can create several statistical reports using the Published Results datasets. Reports may be run by district, group of districts, or a complete state. All this in addition to the customary bug fixes that accompany every release. Refer to the SFRAS v9.2.2 What's New document for more detailed information.

The 1st Annual SFRAS User Group Meeting took place November 18, 2008 at the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham, AL. The user group meeting provided an opportunity for SWRA users from across the south to review and discuss how the SWRA has been used to date by the different state and federal agencies. Additionally, it allowed users to share and learn different techniques, methods, and use of the SFRAS software and SWRA data, as well as discuss issues related to the use of the SWRA. Presentations will be available on the User Group Meeting web page.
The User Group Meeting was followed by SFRAS Training on November 19 & 20th. The one and half day training course provided a comprehensive overview of how to use the SFRAS software and leverage the power of the SWRA Published Results.

| In an effort to better support the use of the SWRA datasets, and the supporting SFRAS software, the SGSF has embarked on a task to re-partition the data by County and by Federal Ownership. The SWRA Published Results data was previously distributed by adminstrative fire district for each state. For some requirements this data was too large and time consuming to work with. Accordingly, with increased demand we have found it would be more useful if data was available on a per county basis. Work is underway on this task and we are targeting a mid-November 2008 release. In addition, the SFRAS software will be enhanced to support data partitioned by fire district, county or by federal ownership. We anticipate that this will make the data easier to employ for the development of county based CWPP and related plans, as well as for our federal partners. A formal announcement will be posted on the web site when the data is available, as well as a notice sent to all state and federal project representatives and SFRAS users. For more information visit the About SFRAS page. |
